No to Plastic, Yes to Steel

There is no doubt that plastics have played a major role in our lives and have significantly improved our health, economic status, and our advancement as a civilization.   But there is a dark side to the use of plastics and one going green tip is to reduce the number of plastic bottle that you dispose of every year.

Plastics take hundreds of years to degrade, and the bottle that you throw away will be here a very long time.  If  you think back on how civilization has changed in 500 years you will quickly realize what a waste management problem plastics will present if we continue throwing them away at the current rate.  The statistics are mind boggling.

Add to this the fact that plastics are accumulating in the oceans in ever growing quantities.  The Great Pacific Gyre, is  only one of 5 areas in the worlds oceans where plastics and other debris, due to ocean currents, is collecting in mass quantities.

Plastics also use a tremendous amount of our finite petroleum reserves.

Thankfully, there is a growing trend to go green and using reusable steel containers for carrying out water is becoming the new chic.  They have the advantage of  keeping things colder or hotter longer, and they come in a lot of fashionable colors.  Add some bling and you could have a new fashion statement.
